Skin Course: All About Acne

Hey, beautiful!

Today, we’re going to talk about acne… I know, not our favorite thing to discuss but definitely a big problem that many of us face or have faced over the years.

Whoever said acne goes away after high school is a liar. Whether you’re fifteen, thirty-five or older, you’ll probably deal with blemishes every once in awhile.

Now, let's learn a little about some of those acne-related problems we all tend to suffer from...

*Blackheads: blackheads forms when your pores get clogged. When the clogged oil interacts with the air, it turns black. While you can squeeze these, they’ll keep coming back.

*Whiteheads: even though you might have one that looks ready for popping, resist the urge; letting it run its course will help you avoid giving yourself a scar. If you have a whitehead and just can’t let it lie, dab at the blemish with an ice cube covered in paper towel or cloth; the ice takes down inflammation/redness and kills bacteria.

*Body acne: it’s fairly easy to combat if you clean properly by using a plastic-bristle brush to scrub the area with soap.

*Reading your face: some of the areas where breakouts occur have their common causes.

1. Forehead: triggered by stress or sleep deprivation.

2. Above brow: this area represents your immune system; so breakouts tend to appear before, during or after a cold/flu.

3. Between brows: often caused by overindulgence. Try cutting back on sugar, rich foods and alcohol.

4. Cheeks: this area is affected by your lung quality. Smoking or breathing polluted air can cause breakouts here.

5. Side of chin: this area if affected by hormones. Breakouts occur around the time of your period.

Acne is such a common problem, so there’s no need to stay at home because of a pimple. If the problem continues to get worse or just won’t get better, see a dermatologist who will prescribe a product that will likely make this situation better.

I hope you learned some new things today and don’t forget to come back to check out the worst things for your skin that we all do but don’t pick up on its seriousness.

Bye, beautiful!
