Makeup Tools: Clean Or Toss?

Hello, beautiful!

We all have a favorite foundation brush, that great eyelash curler and a perfect, big and fluffy powder brush… right? Sometimes they’re hard to find and we usually get so attached to them, we don’t even realize we haven’t been taking care of them the way we’re supposed to and we don’t toss them when they should be tossed.

Using old and dirty makeup tools is a big no-no. A clean makeup tool can avoid skin problems such as acne, which is something a lot of people deal with and find it annoying… Today I’ll be giving you a little guide that will help you know when it’s time to clean or toss your favorite beauty tools!

*Eyelash curlers.
-Clean: weekly (use a cotton pad soaked in rubbing alcohol).
-Toss: toss the rubber pad every 4-6 months or when torn, and toss the curler when it loses tension (usually every 12-18 months).

*Nail tools, tweezers and sharpeners.
-Clean: ideally, after every use… Realistically, every two weeks.
-Toss: when they start to dull or you see corrosion.

*Makeup sponges.
-Clean: weekly. Although, if it’s an average makeup sponge, you can only use it one time.
-Toss: after 3 months since used for the first time or when cracked.

*Makeup brushes.
   -Clean: every other week.
   -Toss: when ratty or frayed.

*Razors.
-Clean: rinse and let it dry outside of the shower after every use.
-Toss: weekly or when it begins to dull.

*Makeup bags.
-Clean: throw it in the washing machine every year if it’s in good condition, or earlier if it’s dirty before the year.
   -Toss: when it’s totally ruined.

 *Hairbrushes.
-Clean: remove hair from the bristles weekly.
-Toss: when the bristles are broken or damaged.

I hope this blog post was helpful and that you learned something new!

Bye, beautiful!
