Winter's Most Common Skin Problems Solved

Hey, beautiful!

First of all, I hope today you have a wonderful Christmas Eve and that tomorrow is an awesome Christmas Day for you. I hope you have an incredible time with you family and friends, eat lots of yummy food and make new memories together!

While there are lots of things this beautiful season brings with it that we love (peppermint mochas, cozy sweaters and oversized scarfs anyone?), there are also some other things we don’t really appreciate, dry skin being one of them…

In today’s blog post we’re going to discuss some of the most common skin issues caused by winter’s weather and how to solve them. Let’s get started!

*Dry skin: your skin gets dry and flaky in the winter because the level of humidity goes down around this time of the year and the lack of moisture in the air causes irritation. A great way to prevent dry skin is by taking lukewarm showers, using a creamy body wash instead of soap, and applying a very moisturizing lotion to your body and a really good moisturizer to your face.

*Rough and bumpy skin: this problem is often caused by the material your winter garments are made of. Try wearing a cotton or silk shirt underneath your wool sweaters to prevent this from happening, keeping a humidifier on your bedside table at night will also help by hydrating your skin.

*Dry fingers and toes: your fingers and toes get dry too, if not more than the rest of your body, and crack. Solve this problem by soaking them in a bowl of warm water for 10 minutes before going to bed, then cover them in a moisturizing cream or Vaseline and put on socks to lock in the moisture of your feet. The following morning you’ll have super soft fingers and toes!

*Sun damage: yes, this happens even in the wintertime! Sunburn cheeks can happen because of the cold weather, and that’s just not cute. Even during winter you should be applying sunscreen to your face to protect it from harsh sun rays.

I hope you learned something new today on how to take proper care of your skin during the winter! If you have any other common skin issue I didn’t mention here, be sure to share it in the comments section below for all of us to know.

If you want more in-depth information and tips on how to get rid of winter's dry skin, be sure to check out this blog post I did on it a few months ago. I’ll talk to you guys again on Thursday… Until then, have Merry Christmas!

Bye, beautiful!
